Flora Electronica is the result of many years of collaboration and friendship. The project arose as an idea during the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, and was realized as a series of concerts in 2021, which have since been further composed into the 8 compositions that make up this record. Each composition can be considered an abstract sound painting of a plant from the Flora Danica collection, after which the composition is named. Here, elements such as the plant's colour, shape, name and natural habitat, for example, have been fertile ground for the compositions.
The following are excerpts from the written part of the graduation project "Flora Electronica - Organic process, Digital processing" from the Jutland Conservatory of Music by Thomas Cortes Thorup.
